For I know well the plans I have in mind for you, says the Lord, plans for your welfare, not for woe, plans to give you a future full of hope – Jeremiah 29:11.

In February of 1986, my brother was in a car accident on their way up north to attend the funeral of a co-worker. He was airlifted to Quezon City and had a series of surgeries. During his confinement at the hospital, we were overwhelmed by the number of people who visited him but our attention was caught by a group of couples who showed so much love and compassion towards my brother and his family. They prayed together, shared their joy and laughter which made it easier to bear the burden of such a tragic incident. We learned that they were members of Couples for Christ to which my brother and sister-in-law were household members. Our Lord works in mysterious ways. He turned the accident into a blessing when we attended the very first parish-based Christian Life Program at Holy Spirit Parish Church,  BF Homes, Quezon City  from August 1 to October 23, 1986. God’s plan for us began to unfold through the community of Couples for Christ. We brought our family and our extended families closer to God.  We were given the opportunity to serve in different capacities. In 1997, the Lord brought us to Guam where we had a chance to join CFC-Guam and serve our brothers and sisters. Then the Lord took us to South Carolina in 1999 and gave us the opportunity to evangelize and form Couples for Christ-South Carolina. Remaining faithful to God keeps us united to Him from whom all blessings flow.  It has been more than 30 years since we joined the community and we continuously reap many blessings including thousands of brothers and sisters who touched our lives in so many ways.

The call to serve in the National Council came as a surprise, but who are we not to heed God’s plan.  We believe that this is a part of His plan to give us a future full of hope – hope to bring more people closer to Him.  It is a great honor to serve the Lord, and we will do so until our last breath.
